It serves as a hub that monitors sensors including temperature, humidity, airflow, air pressure, smoke, door open and contact closure.
A Web-based EMX GUI allows you to remotely see the location of each IT device from this base hub unit or pass the information on to Raritan’s dcTrack DCIM software.

Every data center has some method of monitoring temperature even if it is just a thermometer or a thermostat on a data center wall. But today, that is hardly considered a best practice. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recommends measuring the cool air entering IT equipment near the bottom, in the middle and near the top of each IT rack. Today, many data center managers want to equip their racks with ways to detect water, smoke or when a cabinet door is opened. Some want to install cameras for security so they can spot changes or remotely view the physical environment.
Raritan’s smart rack controller allows you to use any of Raritan’s sensors such as temperature and humidity, Raritan’s Power IQ® energy management software, or the asset management solution composed of the AMT and AMS intelligent asset tags, and dcTrack® data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software or a third-party asset management system with SNMP capability.
The 1U device functions as an SNMP gateway with ports for Raritan’s 1-Wire® sensors, as well as ports for RS-485 serial, KVM, DB-9 modem/console, USB-A and USB-B and contact closure.
Raritan EMX offers an everexpanding range of quality plug-and-play sensors that include temperature, humidity, contact closure, air flow and air pressure.

The EMX brings connectivity for Raritan sensors, serial devices, KVM switches, USB devices and Ethernet connections to IT racks. If a data center has Raritan PX® rack PDUs, then these connections are supported. But if the data center uses other rack PDUs, the EMX provides up to eight sensor, serial and KVM switch connections, as well as others, in a 1U form factor. One EMX can support sensors and other devices for several racks.
The EMX has 1-Wire ports for Raritan sensors as well as the following ports: RS-485, KVM, DB-9 console, Ethernet, and USB-A and USB-B.
The EMX serves as an SNMP gateway between Raritan’s sensors, Raritan’s AMS, console, USB devices (including USB console) and, via Ethernet, connects to Raritan’s software solutions such as Power IQ® energy management software and dcTrack® DCIM software
For small data centers, one EMX can bring the data from a variety of sensors into one, manageable location. For medium-size and larger data centers Power IQ and dcTrack can consolidate the data from several EMXs, as well as PX iPDUs, making data center management faster and easier.
